The awarded authors were present at the event and they were given the awards from the call for creative works “Face to face with my environment”. The Macedonian partner of Env.net, the organization “4x4x4 Balkan bridges” awarded the author Filip Nedelkovski for his photograph “Ax”.
The 11th edition of the street paper “Lice v lice” (Face to face) was also promoted at the opening of the exhibition. The focus theme is protection of the environment, with number of reports and texts about problems regarding air, water and soil pollution, but also texts promoting cycling, permaculture and other green ideas.
The promotional event, with the opening of the exhibition, but also the 11th edition of “Lice v lice” informed and educated people on how to become environmentally responsible, how to be proactive and to encourage to become more involved in finding solutions for the pollution problems.
Centre for media activities from Republic of Macedonia opened the group exhibition “Green click” at the independent cultural centre “Ku La” in Skopje.

Between June 1st and 10th, ENV.net Sub-grantee “Legendary Pallid Scoops Owl” project members gave presentations on their project in three different classes in Birecik, Şanlıurfa.
On 28 June 2014 sub-grantees, a team of 6 people which consists of local members and volunteers attended a bird watching event in Söğütlük Park, Şanlıurfa. They did monitor poplar trees and the Legendary Pallid Scoops Owl which are nesting and breeding in these poplars. During observations they detected four adults and tree baby owls.
On 21-22 June 2014 ENV.net Sub-grantee “Beautiful City, Clean Sea Van” project members attended the Traditional Van Water Sports Festival at Van city center. At the festival, ENV.net sub-grantee opened a stand to present their project and also give information to local folk and municipality staff and Governorship.

The last photo of the week is from Aydın. Here we see TEMA representatives and volunteers from a visit to a TEMA Youth class and they gave TEMA Youths their books.
Project “School Energy Efficiency Standard” implemented by Milieukontakt in Albania, concluded its project with the installation of LED lamps in the building of the public school “Xhezmi Delli”. Prior installing the LED lamps, there was developed an energy audit for the entire building by an expert, where were identified location in the building with big energy losses. This report amongst other things, recommends a series of measures for improving energy performance of the building, as installation of LED lamps that will decrease annual amount of electrical bill with 30%.
The school “Xhezmi Delli” at the end of the process is being certified, as the one that took the initiatives and measures toward energy efficiency in buildings.

To celebrate the World Environment Day, an event titled “Green Macedonia” was held on June 9th 2014 in Kavadarci. The event was an initiative of 25 environmental organizations, members of the Green Platform of Macedonia.
The purpose of the event was to raise public awareness among institutions and citizens, and especially among the youth, about environment protection issues and their proactive participation in the preservation of nature and its resources.
As part of the initiative, an invitation call was sent to a number of elementary and secondary schools across the country for their involvement in the action. The aim of this call was to awaken the creative and competitive spirit of school students to voice their views about environmental protection that surrounds them, through drawings and sculptures made in their youthful and enjoyable way.
The initiative involved students from over 30 schools in Macedonia. The best three “eco works” were awarded with certificates for Young Ambassadors of the environment. All other participants from the schools involved in this action received a Certificate of Distinguished Ambassador of environment.
The event is part of the ENV.net project activities in collaboration with the program for “Strengthening civil society organisations to participate in the legislative process,” implemented by the National democratic Institute (NDI) and financially supported by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) from the United States.
On the World Environment Day , the 5th June, the President of Macedonia, Mr. George Ivanov, organised a meeting with representatives of 15 civil society organisations active in the field of environmental protection, among which ENV.net partner Balkan Bridges 4x4x4 from Skopje, represented by its president Mr. Dushko Hristov.
The meeting, attended also the Deputy Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Mr. Stevo Temelkoski, was a good opportunity to exchange views on a number of issues related to environmental protection, but also a possibility for the CSOs representatives to present their on-going initiatives and projects aimed to promote and advocate for better environment protection policies. Representative from the Balkan Bridges 4x4x4 used this occasion to inform the forum about the ENV.net project, and the activities implemented in Macedonia and wider in the region.
President Ivanov expressed support for the activities of these organisations, highlighting the importance of their efforts to raise awareness among the general public on issues related to environmental protection, climate change, renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste management and recycling.
Representatives of associations of citizens thanked Ivanov for reception. Both sides noted the need to further raise public awareness and knowledge about the importance of ecology and environmental protection, and for strengthening regional and international cooperation in the field of nature protection.
